Live Music Photography
I found a love of photography in 2004 after sneaking a camera into Big Day Out so I could photograph two of my favourite bands at the time – Black Eyed Peas and The Darkness – up close. From that point on I was hooked.
Throughout my career I have worked as a freelance contributor to Blunt Magazine, MTV, Beat Magazine, Rolling Stone, Channel V, Nova Entertainment, Herald Sun and Yahoo!7. Corporate clients included The Frontier Touring Company, Live Nation, Falls Festival, Nova 100, Sound Relief, General Pants Co. and Warner Music Australia.
While this is no longer an active hobby, it has left me with the ability to pick up a camera and easily immortalise key moments at live events whenever required, focusing on the key – but oft overlooked – areas of framing, lighting and timing.
During my time managing The Veronicas, I often photographed their live performances in order to add to our social media content bank.
